The slurry pump guard plate is an important part of the slurry pump. Like the sheath and the impeller, they are all part of the slurry pump flow-through. When the slurry pump is running, the guard plate is in direct contact with the slurry. The main function of the guard plate is to the sheath cooperates to form a semi-closed flow channel, so that the slurry runs in this space. Since the guard plate is parallel to the running direction of the slurry, the service life of the guard plate is longer than that of the sheath and the impeller.

Slurry pump guard plate type :
Some slurry pumps such as: fractional series slurry pump 4/3D-AH, ZJL vertical pump, and submerged slurry pump have only one guard plate, which is equivalent to the FPL insert, and the throat bush is designed with the sheath is integrated; and most horizontal slurry pumps have two guards, namely the FPL insert and the throat bush, and the throat bush is an overflow part of the slurry pump.

At present, the material of the throat bush of the slurry pump is generally wear-resistant alloy, rubber, ceramic, and polyurethane. Among them, the alloy has high hardness and good wear resistance, but poor corrosion resistance. Ceramics have high hardness, wear resistance and corrosion resistance, but are brittle and difficult to use in slurry pumps. Polyurethane has excellent wear resistance and corrosion resistance, and wear is fatigue wear. Rubber is a material with good conveying effect for slurry with small particle size, good anti-wear and anti-corrosion properties, and good resistance to acid and alkali corrosion, and its application is continuously promoted.
