The guard plate of the slurry pump is an important part of the slurry pump. Like the sheath and the impeller, it belongs to the flow-through part of the slurry pump. When the slurry pump is running, the guard plate directly contacts the slurry. The main function of the guard plate is to cooperate with the sheath to form a semi-closed runner, so that the slag slurry runs in this space. Since the guard plate is parallel to the running direction of the slag slurry, the guard plate has a longer service life than the sheath and the impeller.

Guard plate type:
Some slurry pumps such as fractional series slurry pumps 4/3D-AH, ZJL vertical pump and submerged slurry pump have only one guard plate, which is equivalent to the rear guard plate, and the front guard plate is integrated with the sheath during design. Most horizontal slurry pumps have two guard plates, namely the front guard plate and the rear guard plate. The front guard plate is a flow-through component of the slurry pump.

At present, the material of the rear guard plate of the slurry pump is generally wear-resistant alloy, rubber, ceramic, and polyurethane. Among them, the alloy has high hardness and good wear resistance, but poor corrosion resistance. Ceramics have high hardness, wear resistance and corrosion resistance, but are brittle and difficult to be used in slurry pumps.

Polyurethane has excellent wear and corrosion resistance, and wear is fatigue wear. Rubber has good conveying effect on slurry with small particle size, good anti-wear and anti-corrosion properties, and good resistance to acid and alkali corrosion. Its application has been continuously promoted.
